You are invited to join us at our Charter Dinner at 6:30 PM at the Maysville Country Club on Tuesday, March 21st. On March 1, 1878 the Commonwealth of Kentucky awarded a charter to the Maysville and Mason County Library, Historical and Scientific Association, the organization that operated the public library until 1970 and now operates the KYGMC. Please call 606-564-5865 for reservations at $40 per member or $50 per non-member. Our program will include vocal performance by Heather French Henry and an appearance by Daniel Boone (Kevin Hardesty from the Kentucky Humanities Council) discussing his life in Maysville. We will also unveil two recent historically significant acquisitions for our collection. All proceeds will benefit the KYGMC endowment.

UNVEILING AT CHARTER DINNER
The Kentucky Gateway Museum Center, Maysville, Kentucky is pleased to announce acquisition of two very rare and historic maps to the museum’s permanent archival collection. The maps were prepared starting in 1796 by the French General Georges Henri Victor Collot as part of a secret French reconnaissance of the western American frontier:
The map of the Buffalo Trace, known as the Limestone, Lexington, Frankfort map, the first printed map of any American road west of the Appalachian Mountains
The map of the Ohio River Watershed of the Eastern States to the Mississippi River is considered the most authoritative view of the Ohio River from the second half of the 18th Century.
